A song starts playing and suddenly you remember the routine.
An old photograph appears and you remember the costume.
Someone mentions a teammate and another memory comes rushing back.
Four women who haven’t all been together in decades discover that two summers at Market Square Arena created a bond that never completely went away.
On this episode of “Let’s Twist Again,” former Windjammers Stevi, Suzanne, Christa and Mindy reunite to remember their time as members of the dance team for the Indianapolis/Indiana Twisters of 1996-1997.
There were stories about auditions, exhausting rehearsals, frantic costume changes, Twisters fans and performing on one of Indianapolis’ most famous stages. (There was even a story involving a bachelorette party and a stripper named Caesar. But you’ll have to watch to hear that one.)
Nearly three decades have passed.
But put four Windjammers together, show them the old footage and play the old music, and suddenly 1996 and 1997 don’t seem quite so far away.
Watch the show below, or listen to the audio podcast below that. Then tell me if you remember watching the Twisters at MSA and if you were a fan of the Windjammers!
