When you think of community football, you might think of Green Bay. In Canada, that spirit lives in Saskatchewan. The Roughriders have been fan-owned, battle-tested, and beloved since 1910. In the latest Sports Rewind episode, we explore why the Riders might be your new ride-or-die.
Two lifelong Roughrider fans, Darcy Osborne and Trent Walker, who’ve been season ticket holders for a combined 70+ years, joined the channel to share what it means to be a huge fan of the team in the CFL’s smallest market. You’ll learn about the history of the club, the disappointments and triumphs, the telethon that saved the team in the late 1980s, and what they think of the changes that are coming to the CFL.
Check out the episode below, then watch the Riders in the CFL’s West Final today, Saturday, Nov. 8 at 6:30 p.m. ET on CFL+. The winner of that game goes to next week’s Grey Cup final in Winnipeg.
