Actual conversation between Major League Soccer Commissioner Don Garber and Los Angeles Galaxy General Manager Alexi Lalas this morning:
The reason? Lalas’ interview with The Guardian in which he blasts the English Premier League and says “I honestly believe if you took a helicopter and grabbed a bunch of MLS players and took them to the perceived best league in the world they wouldn’t miss a beat and the fans wouldn’t notice any drop in quality.”
That’s insane, of course. That would have to be a very small helicopter because, as much as I love MLS, there aren’t more than a handful of players in the league who could compete in the EPL, much less compete without “missing a beat.”
