Audio Archive: Indianapolis Ice at Cleveland Lumberjacks Dec. 31, 1993

The Indianapolis Ice rang out 1993 with a 3-2 shootout win over the Cleveland Lumberjacks on New Year’s Eve at Richfield Coliseum. Hugo Belanger scored in regulation and the shootout to give the Ice just their ninth win in 36 games.

Indianapolis had a 2-1 lead late before veteran Dave Michayluk scored to send the game to a deciding shootout. That’s where Ice goalie Christian Soucy shined, turning away five Cleveland shots, including the final one by Ed Patterson to clinch the win and set off a celebration that continued on the long bus ride back to Indianapolis.

You can listen to much of the WNDE-AM broadcast, including the entire shootout, below, and see the box score at the bottom.
